Reading at New York Poetry Festival on Governors Island Tomorrow

I will be reading tomorrow for the first annual New York Poetry Festival on Governors Island.  I am reading around 12.30pm with the rest of the Coldfront crew.  I’ve never been to Governor’s Island but am excited to check it out.  There are over 100 other poets reading and I can only imagine the effort that went into arranging everything.

In other news Lame House Press is going to be publishing my chapbook I Live Here Now in December.  Exciting!  Thank you to Lame House Press proprietor Gina Myers!  I’m going to attempt to design (or semi-design) the cover of this one.  I’ll let you know how it goes!

Song of the Week feature up and running on Coldfront!

Song of the Week, a new weekly (duh) feature is up and running now on Coldfront.  Well, it’s actually been up for a few weeks already!  I’m just a little slow getting this information up here.

Basically, the premise of Song of the Week is to get poets to write about one song in 150 words or less, with pieces updated every Monday.  This feature is in addition to the monthly Poets off Poetry series, which by the way, I have a great POP essay by Ed Skoog to post later this week!

So far you can read Song of the Week pieces by Elaine Equi, J. Michael Wahlgren, Dustin Luke Nelson, and Eric Amling.  If you or someone you know would like to contribute a Song of the Week piece, be in touch!  You can email me at jackie@coldfrontmag.com.

In other news, I got a two week residency at the Vermont Studio Center.  Kind of awesome.  I will be away from November 20- December 3.  I’m a little bummed to be away for Thanksgiving but this may be the only chance I get to do something like this so I think I have to go for it!
