Reading Poems in Denver this Weekend & The Poetry Project Next Week

So I am travelling to Denver this weekend with my good friend Amy Lawless to read poems on Sunday afternoon at Counterpath Books.  You can see the Facebook invite here.  In addition to reading with JA Tyler and Danielle Pafunda (which I am really looking forward to) there is another reading happening on Saturday night that we will get there just in time to attend.  Bad Shadow Affair will feature Paige Taggart, Sampson Starkweather, Ben Mirov, and Selah Saterstrom.  You can see the invite for their reading here.  So a happy coincidence that we will all be in town at the same time.  It will be a short but fun-filled weekend.

Then, next Friday, May 3 I am reading at The Poetry Project with Bianca Stone.  Be sure to take a nap or something before the reading because it doesn’t start until 10pm!  Should be a fun night though.  Check out the Facebook invite here.

What else?

Just another day in the life I suppose…

Giving a Speech at William Paterson University Tonight (CRAZY!) & More Songs of the Week

Oh my god guys, I have to give a speech tonight, to seniors graduating from the Honors Program at William Paterson University, which is where I did my undergraduate degree.  I was asked to speak by one of my favorite professors.  It sort of makes sense; I graduated from the Honors Program and had a really good experience so I guess I can say something sort of relevant to the students.  It’s exciting.  I have to speak for about 5-7 minutes about how the Honors Program affected my life.  Then I get to read some poems for about 10 minutes.  I have my speech all typed up and printed out.  I have practiced.  I hope it isn’t too earnest, the speech.  My hands are already clammy.

Look – my face was on the invitation too!

Honors College Banquet Invitation

Okay, also, more Songs of the Week.  Don’t you know it.  Now featuring my press-mates at Brooklyn Arts Press!  So far we had pieces from Alejandro Ventura, Martin OttBill Rasmovicz, and Carol Guess.  There are many more weeks left of the Brooklyn Arts Press residency so stay tuned for that.

I guess that’s it for now.

I’ve written every day in April so far.  Hopefully I can hold strong the next week or so.

Oh, and new music – The Shouting Matches.  Justin Vernon’s new side project.  It’s pretty feel-good.  A welcomed feeling.

A Belated Thanks (& Photos!)

Just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came to the Aphoria book party last week.   I felt very loved.  It was sort of overwhelming and amazing.

Here are a couple of shots from the party.  Thanks to Evan Felts for taking them!

Also, I am reading at KGB Bar tonight with Adam Fitzgerald.  See the Facebook invite here.

On another note, I am super in love with this Tift Merrit and Simone Dinnerstein record. It’s exceptional.

It’s spring I guess.  I’m going to try to write a little something every day in April.

Reading, writing, and staying interested. My mission this month.
