Head on over the The Poetry Foundation blog and check out a short but sweet mention of Poets off Poetry. I’m glad the series is getting some attention. Thanks Travis!
So, I’ve been using the phrase “a small, good thing” lately to describe why I have been making the decisions I have been making. It just seems so simple and so right to just be doing small, good things for oneself and for others. The phrase comes from a Raymond Carver story, which you can happily read in its entirety here.
The phrase kind of reminds me of Hemingway’s story “A Clean, Well-Lighted Place.” Something about the simplicity of both ideas is immensely comforting. Ray Carver is one of my most favorite writers. I loaned out What We Talk About When We Talk About Love and have no recollection to who. Needless to say I don’t have it now. Sad for me.
